On 31st October 2024 (The last Thursday of October 2024), Oneplus launched the OnePlus 13 in China. Turns out that all of the rumors about this phone were somewhat true. Let's take a technical look at the specs of this new beast by Oneplus.
Oneplus 13 has a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile processor(know more). In a nutshell, the new Oryon™ CPU offers a performance boost of 45% and enhanced power efficiency compared to old processors. This processor includes multimodal Gen AI support and industry-leading camera technology. With a better GPU, there are some major improvements in gaming graphics and connectivity.
The new beast from Oneplus offers ColorOS 15 (know more)which is said to have a focus on personalization and efficiency. Some of the key features include a customizable Always-On Display (AOD) and improved multitasking capabilities mostly because of the underlying new chip. To sum up, ColorOS 15 aims to provide a smoother and more intuitive user experience.
Moreover, Oneplus continues to have Hasselblad branding.
The OnePlus 13 shelfs a 2K+ LTPO AMOLED 6.82-inch display which has a dynamic refresh rate from 1-120 Hz refresh rate, and up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness. As the display can go as low as 1Hz refresh rate the AOD feature that comes with the new ColorOS won't drain the battery as much as it is draining in other competitor devices.
In the case of memory, there is a jump, the OnePlus 13 gets up to 24 GB RAM and up to 1 TB storage which is a lot for a smartphone. The phone runs Android 15 out of the box, based on the newly launched ColorOS 15.
The OnePlus 13 uses a 6,000 mAh battery massive battery along with a 100 W charger inside the box. Maybe the 6000 mAh will be the new industry standard? Oneplus 13 also supports reverse charging.
The OnePlus 13 houses 3 cameras and the funny part is that all the cameras are 50MP. The main sensor is a 50 MP main Sony LYT-808 sensor, then we have a 50 MP ultrawide Samsung sensor, and in the end a 50 MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom. In the selfie department, there is a 32 MP front camera.
The OnePlus 13 is IP68 and IP69 which is great as these protections mean that the phone has dust and water protection.
OnePlus 13 which can be called the base variant with 12 GB/ 256 GB starts at CNY 4,499 (around ₹53,100 in India). The 12 GB/ 512 GB unit at CNY 4,899 (around ₹57,900 in India) and the 16 GB/ 512 GB for CNY 5,299 (around ₹62,600 in India).
