iWatch Series 9: Everything you need to know

Apple has released a new Apple Watch Series 9 with a powerful new Apple silicon chip. The watch has been tightened with the watchOS which has some new features like advanced workout metrics, sleep stages, and car crash detection. The watch has been designed from the inside out with the all-new S9 SiP, giving it a significant boost in performance and capabilities. The S9 CPU has 5.6 billion transistors, which is 60% more than the Series 8, and its GPU is 30% faster then the old SiP. The new S9 chip helps make the animations and effects in watchOS 10 look super smooth.

The new S9 chip comes with a new 4-core Neural Engine that can process machine learning tasks. With the S9 chip the iWatch Series 9 have a battery life of 18 hours on paper. With the Neural Engine integration, All the Siri requests are now handled on the device rather than using your phone to process the information. This means that the most common requests, like 'Siri, start an outdoor walk workout,' no longer have to go to the cloud, so they can't be slowed down by connection Wi-Fi or cellular. The accuracy of the data on the iWatch Series 9 has been bumped up and not it is said that it is 25% more accurate than the Series 8. With watchOS 10, you can use NameDrop to instantly share your contact information with another person's Apple Watch. iWatch Series 9 has a new second-generation Ultra Wideband chip that enables Precision Finding for iPhones. You'll able to see both the distance and direction to your iPhone, and once you get close enough, haptic and audible feedback will guide you to its exact location. With an Ultra Wideband chip, When you get close to your Apple HomePod, media suggestions will automatically appear at the top of the Smart Stack in your Apple watch.

Series 9 features a big edge-to-edge Always-On Retina display (in simple words an AMOLED display) which has a peak brightness of 2000 nits which is double the brightness of iWatch Series 8. Moreover, the brightness can go down to just 1 nit which the watch very battery-efficient. Apple Watch can also be controlled by gestures like wrist raise, which brightens the display to let you check the time, read notifications, or see who's calling at a glance. To silence the alerts you can just cover the display and the current notification will be silenced. Series 9 has a new gesture that uses just your hand in which your watch is tied. The feature is usable when for example you have coffee in your other hand and you want to pick up an important call, Now just tap your index finger and thumb together twice and that's it. With this feature, you can answer a call, stop a timer, play and pause music, or snooze an alarm. When you double tap it will open a Smart Stack on your iWatch Series 9, You can just Double Tap again to scroll through the widgets, this will feel like turning the Digital Crown. This new gesture is enabled by the powerful neural engine that has been added in Series 9, which processes data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart sensor in a completely new way by using a machine learning algorithm to detect the tiny movements and changes in our blood flow when our hands and fingers perform a Double Tap action.

Series 9 is available in a new Pink aluminium case, Starlight, Silver, Midnight, and PRODUCT(RED). The stainless steel cases come in Gold, Silver, and Graphite.

The packaging of the Series 9 is made with 100% fibre-based material which makes it more compact. With this 25% more boxes can be transported in a trip.

A new material has been developed by Apple for the iWatch which is quoted as a 'beautiful, luxurious, and durable new textile that we're calling FineWoven' By Jeff from Apple. It is made from 68% post-consumer recycled content, which has a lower carbon footprint than leather. Apple has collaborated with Hermès on four new styles out of which two bands are elegant woven bands, which is a first-ever knitted band from Apple, and another in a sporty moulded rubber band. Apple has also collaborated with Nike to design new bands that repurpose excess materials and waste, reducing the use of fresh material.

The new Series 9 starts at $399.
